Alghero - The old town"La Marina" beach is in Alghero, one of the most characteristic towns in Sardinia.

Founded by the Doria family in XII century, the town, overlooking the northwest coast, was conquered and colonized by the Aragonese-Catalans in 1353, who remained there until 1700.
Residents still use the archaic Catalan language, that you can read in the names of the streets, and listen in folk songs and religious ceremonies.
The city itself in the historical center has maintained, especially on the seaside, the fortified aspect of so many centuries ago. In the old city, still perfectly recognizable in its medieval appearance, you can see many towers, old buildings, churches and cobbled alleys and streets that bear witness to the Catalan origin.

Alghero - The coastBut what makes Alghero Alghero unique are the crystal blue sea and white sand of the many kilometers of beaches that characterize the coast.
Beaches like the Lido, with its beautiful Maria Pia pinewood, Fertilia, Le Bombarde, The Lazzaretto, the coast of Porto Conte continuing into the Pineta Mugoni, Cala Dragunara in the north offer a charming naturalistic repertoire. Not to mention the white limestone cliffs of Capo Caccia and the suggestive Neptune's Grotto, accessible by sea or along the 656 steps carved into the rock of the Escala Cabirol, long and steep but very beautiful landscape.
To the south you can find the beautiful cliffs of Cala Bona which continues with jagged inlets to the beach of La Speranza, natural border with the territory of Villanova Monteleone.

Alghero - Aerial ViewAlghero today is the fourth largest city in Sardinia. Although not the capital of the province, is the center of a major tourist area of wine production and craftsmanship.
There are in fact the famous wine cellars of Sella & Mosca and Santa Maria La Palma in addition to the great master craftsmen in the creation of jewelry made from coral.
Dining options also is not in second place thanks to the excellent restaurants where you can taste dishes such as paella, Catalan-style lobster or spaghetti with sea urchins.
Anche l'aspetto gastronomico non in secondo piano grazie alla presenza di ottimi ristoranti nei quali possibile degustare i piatti tipici della cucina algherese come la paella, l'aragosta alla catalana o gli spaghetti ai ricci di mare.
